La guerre est imminente. Lorsque le père de Peter s’engage dans l’armée, il oblige son fi ls à abandonner Pax, le renard qu’il a élevé depuis son plus jeune âge, et envoie le garçon vivre chez son grand-père à cinq cents kilomètres de là. Mais Peter s’enfuit, à la recherche de son renard. Pendant ce temps, Pax affronte seul les dangers d’une nature sauvage et se trouve confronté à ceux de son espèce. Une voix d’auteur superbe à l’écriture cristalline et âpre, magnifi quement servie par les illustrations de Jon Klassen.
